Megido Gliding Center (MGC) is a voluntary non profit organization.
We are located at the heart of the Yizrael Valley not far from the city
of Afula. There are more than one hundred active members in our club , all which
are enthusiastic glider pilots.
MGC glider fleet includes 24 gliders of which 12 are club gliders and
the rest are privately owned by club members. Our glider fleet includes single sitters
and two sitter gliders, including four motor-gliders. We use two
tow airplanes (
Piper Pawnee and
Piper Cab).
MGC runs a gliding school for glider pilots' trainees. After passing
the required practical tests and written exams, flying cadets earns
their pilot license from the Israel Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
We operate on weekends and holidays, all year around.
All MGC members including tow pilots, flight instructors, and maintenance technicians operate
voluntarily.
From Megido airfield, pilots are taking off for local flights and also long distant
flights that sometime last many hours.
MGC members are actively participating in the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale
(FAI) IGC Pilot Ranking List by
OLC World Champion Daily Score Ranking.
MGC also offers
Introduction Flights for visitors wishing to enjoy the experience of
silent glider flight over the Yizrael Valley.
